On Procrastination: Conservations with the Devil

I once heard a tale - of how the devil, distressed at the high number of soul conversion, called for an emergency meeting. Surrounded by all the archdemons and demons, he pressed for a solution. Someone had to go convert those converted souls back to damnation. We cannot possibly suffer these flames alone, he cried.

Mamoon had a brilliant idea. “I am Greed. Send me. I will inflame their hearts with a burning passion to accumulate wealth. They will sell a house for a head.”

Good idea, the devil said. But this will not not stop them from making amends and going back to their God for all men know that greed is evil.

Asmodeus had a better one. I will let their hearts burn with strong passion for each other. Fathers shall lay with their daughters and sons with Mothers. Even if they know lust is bad, they will not be able to help themselves for only a few have withstood me. 

Good, the devil said. You may succeed for a while. They will tire of you quickly when they feel the emptiness in their souls. And soon go in search of Peace, their Creator.

Send me, someone said. All heads turned to Belphegor, the demon for Sloth. Tell me your grand plan, the devil said. 

"I shall let them know about God. About Judgement, Penance and Restitution."

But I will tell them to wait. There is still time. A few more minutes. Hours. Days. I will tell them to have fun. They only get to live this once. No worries. 

Then, the  devil smiled.

I don’t feel the need to write beyond this. We have been guilty of procrastination a lot of times. We've stretched time and indulged ourselves. 'Just this once,' we would say. Then another. And another. After all, we live only but once (YOLO).  

So I rather spare you the details and remind you to go do it. Whatever 'it' is. In Brian Tracy's voice, go 'eat that frog now!'
